"This should scare you" -- Ontario Privacy Commissioner
According to some sources "Lawful Access" legislation could be introduced before Christmas. On the basis of previous versions of this legislation, privacy commissioners in Canada are expressing grave concerns about its possible contents.
We are talking about the expansion of surveillance without judicial authorization. This should scare you,” said Ontario Privacy Commissioner Anne Cavoukian speaking at an Ottawa privacy conference on Novermber 29, 2011.
On October 31st, the Ontario Privacy Commissioner's office sent an open letter, a 20 page legal anaysis of this legislation to Public Safety Minister Vic Toews.
